Good Hope FM and Nigel Pierce recognised the love for old school music which is deeply rooted in the culture of Capetonians, and thus Kinky Afro was created as a 30 minute on air feature on the Nigel Pierce Show, showcasing the best of the 80’s and 90’s music.
Following the success of the feature, Good Hope FM launched the Kinky Afro party 12 years ago at the time honoured West End club. From its launch, the event grew in stature and became known as the not-to-be-missed event of the year. The party attracted dance-lovers young and youthful, and in 2010 attracted a record 8,000 party revellers to the CTICC - the first for an all-local party at this venue.
The funk is back this year and 2016 promises to be even bigger! The picturesque Shimmy Beach Club will host all your much-loved Good Hope FM DJ’s on Friday 29 April featuring Ready D, Garth B, Dr. Jules, Gary Poole, Azhul, Kurt Busch and DJ MD!
“Are you dancing, ‘cause I’m asking!” Cape Town’s favourite MC, Nigel Pierce will once again take the microphone to host this renowned event! Doors open 7PM and we go live to air at 10pm – See you there!
